Which epic characteristics are found in this excerpt from the Iliad by Homer? epithet epic simile starting in medias res invocation of a muse vast setting
And now, the warriors passing on the way, The graceful Paris first excused his stay. To whom the noble Hector thus replied: "O chief! in blood, and now in arms, allied! Thy power in war with justice none contest; Known is thy courage, and thy strength confess'd. What pity sloth should seize a soul so brave, Or godlike Paris live a woman's slave! My heart weeps blood at what the Trojans say, And hopes thy deeds shall wipe the stain away. Haste then, in all their glorious labours share, For much they suffer, for thy sake, in war. These ills shall cease, whene'er by Jove's decree We crown the bowl to heaven and liberty: While the proud foe his frustrate triumphs mourns, And Greece indignant through her seas returns.

To Helen's bed the gods alone assign Hermione, to extend the regal line; . . . A golden distaff gave to Helen's hand; And that rich vase, with living sculpture wrought, . . . He ceased; a gush of grief began to rise: Fast streams a tide from beauteous Helen's eyes; . . . At Helen's beck prepare the room of state; Beneath an ample portico they spread . . . In this suspense bright Helen graced the room; Before her breathed a gale of rich perfume.

what do you think it is
i think one of the answers is C
mhhm
just because it says "he"
and Achilles is a man
you guys don't know, do you?
@KAKES1967
this is from the odyssey fyi
Yeah I believe C is correct. After reading over and over C makes the most sense when comparing the definition of epithet. So i would go with C and E (aka last one).
