Write an expression that looks like Sarah’s expression: 5(2j + 3 + j). Replace the coefficients so that your expression is not equivalent. You may use any number that you choose to replace the coefficients. Be sure to leave the variables the same. For example, 8(3j + 7 + 3j) looks like Sarah’s expression but is not equivalent. Translate the algebraic expression you created in Question 1 to a verbal expression.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Use your knowledge of the mathematical properties to create two equivalent algebraic expressions for the algebraic expression you created in Question 1. Explain how you arrived at the equivalent expressions by showing all your steps and stating which properties you used. Use substitution to prove your algebraic expressions are equivalent. You may substitute any number for the variables you choose. Show all your work for complete credit.

Write a few sentences to end Sarah’s story. How many shark teeth did she find? How many shark teeth did John find? How much money did Sarah earn?

turtle i should for sure listen to pooja over you.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh right.. task at hand.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

all the top comments in my question the top two i think are part of the question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah top two comments

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Its ok he wont be spamming anymore hes gone for 24 hours :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@pooja195 any chance you could lend me a hand with this question?

pooja195 (pooja195):

actually this isnt that hard :/ 5(2j + 3 + j) make something that looks similar to this using any numbers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there is more to it look at the second and third comment

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

the terms with the j can be combined @pooja195

pooja195 (pooja195):

@UsukiDoll look at their example

pooja195 (pooja195):

@FlamePlaysMC can you try to create something similar to 5(2j + 3 +j )?

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

mhm... suppose I just combine. 5(2j + 3 + j). 5(3j+3) when 5 is distributed.... we have 15j+15 had I left the example untouched and just distributed the 5 10j+15+5j

pooja195 (pooja195):

That helpes with part 3

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

hmmm.... it's like I had (5 x 2)j + (5 x 3) +(5x1)j like the five times table only out of order.

pooja195 (pooja195):

that makes it look so much more confusing

pooja195 (pooja195):

:/
