a

OpenStudy (anonymous):

need the table

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well for part b the answer would be w because the average represents the average ant school w has the highest mean

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not sure what irq and that last column represent

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay well for part a you have to use the last column do you understand what standard deviation represents?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay well just incase you don't it basically means how accurate a value is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standard_deviation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the higher the deviation the less accurate

OpenStudy (anonymous):

basically which of the three schools has the lowest standard of deviation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

by the way this is the first time iv ever heard about standard deviation so im not 100 percent sure i would read the wiki if i was you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well for this question I think you need to be looking at measures of spread so I'd be looking for smallest range, IQR and standard deviation as these all measure the spread of a data set. that, for me would be the most consistent

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

My answer for part A is above...

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Rule: the lower the standard deviation, the closer the scores get and clump together. The closer the scores, the more consistent the data.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

The symbol \(\Large \sigma\) is the greek letter symbol sigma (lower case) it represents the standard deviation

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yes
