Has anyone read A Doll's House by Henrik Ibsen? :D

OpenStudy (marihelenh):

I have.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@marihelenh What are your thoughts about it? I really loved the play because I can tell that it isn't just about the issue of feminism, but individuality. And the ending? I call it bull... lol like how can Nora manage to leave her responsibilities as mother to her children?

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

I liked it

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

then again this is coming from a guy who enjoyed the awakening

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

but her responsibilities as a mother to her children are pointless because they are all dolls... her responsibilities exist arguably as a construct of "the patriarchy" or something idk - I will mention that I agree with the statement that women are expected to care for children more and I think the expectation is a bit outdated

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You read the Awakening by Kate Chopin? :O Yes, but remember this was set in the early 19th century, which largely made an impact on how society sees both men and women at that time.

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

well, out of that, madame bovine ovaries, and the dollhouse, I like Chopin the most.
