The case relates to freedom of speech. Speech in this case doesn't only mean speaking, but rather what you wear, and even the type of music you like. The case is about the children wanting to freely express themselves, and the school board is saying that they cannot express themselves if they are disrupting the children's environment and messing with the schools lunch plans. In the Tinker v. Des Moines case, the children wanted to wear their symbolic wristbands to support an idea they cared strongly about. The school board ordered them to take the wristbands off because they were disrupting the children's learning. The case went to the supreme court and the children won because the school was taking away their first amendment right of freedom of speech.
