Okay, so the amplitude is the distance from the midline to the maximum or minimum of the graph. And the midline is pretty much the very middle of the graph. Just from looking at the maximum which is 5 and minimum which is -3, we can add the absolute values of these and divide by 2 to get the sort of midpoint between these heights, which is 4. Simply subtract 4 from the maximum or add it to the minimum and we get y=1 for the midline. Thus: C.
Isn't amplitude half the distance between the max and min?
