We perform the experiment "Toss two dice". What is the probability of the event "no 3 appears on either face. answers 10/36 11/36 1/36 and 25/36

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you know it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how many ways can you have no 3 on the first face?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For one die

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1/6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there are 5 ways not to get a 3 should be 5/6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so 5/6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

similarly, there is a 5/6 chance for the second die , not to get a 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now you multiply 5/6 * 5/6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

31.36

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no 25/36

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in symbols P( 1st die is not 3 & 2nd die is not 3) = P( 1st die is not 3) * P( 2nd die is not 3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because the events are indepenent

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so that's the answer and thank you very much i m not good at math

OpenStudy (anonymous):

your welcome

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so if i roll a three i would do 3/6

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

I think this questions needs to state what numbers are on the dice before asking for the probability of no 3 if 3 isn't on the dice the the probability would be zero

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks but i already got the answer srry
