HELP://// The board of directors of a company knows that the probability that the carbon emission from the company’s manufacturing unit is exceeding the permissible level is 35%. A consultant is hired to use a carbon footprint calculator to test for the emission level. The accuracy of this test is said to be 85%. What is the probability that the carbon emission from the manufacturing unit is within the permissible level, and the test predicts the same outcome? 0.2975 0.0525 0.0975 0.5525 0.6325

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it says AND right, not GIVEN

OpenStudy (anonymous):

uh what???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok nvm what is the probability that it is within the permissible level?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i literally don't understand any of this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would it be 35%??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok lets take is slow (we can do it easy) the probability that is NOT in the permissible level is .35 because that is what you are told

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but you need the probability that it IS in the permissable level so \[100\%-35\%=?\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

65%

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right, as a decimal?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you have to convert the percent to a decimal \[65\%=.65\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and \(85\%\) is \(.85\) all you need to do is multiply the decimals together to get your answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

.5525

OpenStudy (anonymous):

as always, it is C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you so much you made it actually make sense. I might need your help on some more

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ahahhaha thats funny I always go with c when I'm guessing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok what i didn't say was that you multiply because it said AND

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is the probability that the carbon emission from the manufacturing unit is within the permissible level, AND the test predicts the same outcome?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah C is always the best guess

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so if it says and then you just multiply the two together
