What is F(x)=2x2-3x+4 The 2nd 2 is a square

OpenStudy (mchilds15):

Do you know where to start?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No I'm guessing the (x)

OpenStudy (mchilds15):

Well, yeah. Just change the f(x) to y. It kind of makes it easier when you look at it. Now, how do you plan to solve it?

OpenStudy (mchilds15):

(you can't factor it)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Solving for (y)

OpenStudy (mchilds15):

Yes, but to do so, you're going to have to apply the Quadratic Formula Does that sound familiar or am I getting way ahead of you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Eh? Yea u kinda lost me I don't really understand it that way.

OpenStudy (mchilds15):

Okay... Here, go to http://www.tiger-algebra.com/ ^this site will not only give you the answer but show you the steps to get there. It helped me get through high school ;)

OpenStudy (mchilds15):

\[\frac{ 3\pm i \sqrt{23} }{ 4 }\] This was my answer btw...

OpenStudy (mchilds15):

Then again I used the quadratic formula. You could find a different answer by completing the square. I don;t know where you are in your lessons... Does Completing the Square sound familiar?

Thank you so much for explaining you helped me out a lot. ^_^
