OpenStudy (marigirl):

A and B are complementary events. P(A) = 3 x P(B), calculate P (B) ... Complementary events mean that P (A) + P (B) =1 So can I take an algebraic approach and say P(A)+3P(B)=1 x+3x=1 And to say P (B)=0.25

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

I think you meant to say P(A) + P(B) = 1 3*P(B) + P(B) = 1

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you are correct in saying that P(B) = 0.25

OpenStudy (marigirl):

Thank you.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

no problem

OpenStudy (marigirl):

Oh yea I see the error I madeI was meant to write p (b)
