Which of these is an example of scientific law? A. all living things are composed of 1 or more cells. B. The oldest fossils on earth are 3.5 billion years old. C. All matter in the universe is composed of elements. D. The acceleration of gravity is 9.8 m/sec.

I'm really stuck can someone help pleasee

OpenStudy (anonymous):

C. what GeniousCreation said ^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A... because There is not any living thing without cells...the other alternatives can be discussed

OpenStudy (taramgrant0543664):

A scientific law is a statement based on repeated experimental observations that describes some aspects of the universe. A scientific law always applies under the same conditions, and implies that there is a causal relationship involving its elements. The only answer should be D this is because it falls under Newton's law of gravity it is a scientific law because it was proven through multiple trials under conditions and remained true.

OpenStudy (rushwr):

I agree with @taramgrant0543664

OpenStudy (taramgrant0543664):

It only makes sense A yes it may be true but there is no law on it, B you can't technically prove that completely, and for c I'd like some one to attempt to prove that but tell me what dark matter is-- it's matter but definitely not made up of and elements or at least from any of the papers that i have read, D is the only one that is an actual law currently

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@taramgrant0543664: Well, all the matter in the universe is composed of elements. However, I do agree with you. I admit I did make a mistake. D which obviously has something to do with Newton’s law of gravity and there is a law for this. So I think the answer should be D. I made a new research and A is just too obvious. Here are the reasons for each answer. A: too obvious, and too general B: informative, not such law actually says that B is true for all C: I am still not sure, but matter is made of elements, however, there is no law D: Newton’s law, makes up for D, so D is the answer.
