OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do you sketch a graph and use the Pythagorean therom

OpenStudy (lochana):

Can you provide an example?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there is no example...

OpenStudy (lochana):

How did you come to know all these things? teacher ? If so explain what did she/he do in class?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes a teacher and if i asked her, she would probably think im cheating on the test...

OpenStudy (lochana):

There is no direct relationship between graphs and pythagorean theorem. You can draw graphs without pythagoras.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well yhe wuestion is confusing

OpenStudy (lochana):

Oh. Okay. Do you know how to draw a graph from a given equation. (eg: y = 2x )

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (lochana):

okay. graph is a sketch of a equation. Like the one I gave before. You can represent it through a graph.

OpenStudy (lochana):

So a graph has 2 axis. We call them X and Y

OpenStudy (lochana):

|dw:1439217997479:dw|

OpenStudy (lochana):

now, In order to draw our graph . You need 2 things. They are values of x and y. Otherwise you can draw it.

OpenStudy (lochana):

think about: y = 2x

OpenStudy (lochana):

strangely we have these y and x parts in our equation. So we need to find some of x and y parts in numbers to draw our graph

OpenStudy (lochana):

I will explain you when you come back:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (lochana):

Hey. Are you following me so far?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, i know how to make a graph but how do you use it on a graph or when making a graph?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do you use the Pythagorean therom on a graph...

OpenStudy (lochana):

Well, You can get a distance between 2 points using pythagorean theorem

OpenStudy (lochana):

Is that what you are asking?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (lochana):

okay. You know that it is difficult to get a distance between two points when you are given coordinates of those points.

OpenStudy (lochana):

The easiest way to go for it, using this pythagorean thearem. let me give you an example

OpenStudy (lochana):

|dw:1439218976248:dw| okay. now you want to know the distance of pq

OpenStudy (lochana):

|dw:1439219099674:dw| if you know (a) and (b) , You will find distance pq by using pyth.. theorem
