Given the expression 3x^(2)y + 4xy + 1 – 5x^(4)y – 6y, do the following as instructed below: a. Write the polynomial in descending order. b. Classify the polynomial by the number of terms. c. State the degree of the polynomial.

OpenStudy (misty1212):

HI!!

OpenStudy (misty1212):

this means write from highest degree to lowest

OpenStudy (misty1212):

\[3x^2y+4xu+1-5x^4y-6y\] degree of each term is the sum of the exponents

OpenStudy (misty1212):

so for example the first term has degree 3 since \(2+1=3\) the second term has degree 2 etc

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm mostly just confused with B

OpenStudy (misty1212):

yeah it evidently has 5 terms, not sure what that is called

OpenStudy (misty1212):

not even sure it has a name other than "five term polynomial"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah i didn't think so either, but thanks :)
