A library would like to hire a new librarian, computer technician, and manager. If 10 people apply for the positions, how many different groups could be hired ?
Well if you think about it there's 3 jobs for 10 people if one gets hired then there is 2 jobs for 9 people, and for the third job there will be 8 people left for the position so you just need to multiply them 10x9x8 and that would give you the number of options you can also think of it as there are 10 people for the first job if one gets hired there are 9 people that can get hired for the second job and since another person got hired there's only 8 people left for the position
But the question is asking how many different groups could be hired ?
Ya that's why it's 10x9x8 will equal the number of groups If we say there are people numbered 1 to 10 Number 1 gets hired for the first job, #2 gets the second job and #3 gets hired for the last job that is one group 1, 2, 4 is another group and so on That is why it's 10x9x8 for the total number of sets
Kk I got it :)
