A quadratic equation is shown below: 9x2 − 16x + 60 = 0 Part A: Describe the solution(s) to the equation by just determining the radicand. Show your work. Part B: Solve 4x2 + 8x − 5 = 0 by using an appropriate method. Show the steps of your work, and explain why you chose the method used.
Part A If we just evaluate the radicand, that is sq root (b^2 - 4*a*c) which equals sq root (-16^2 -4*4*-5)
Got anything on B?
I messed up part A it should be: sq root (-16^2 -(4*9*60))
Part B Using Quadratic Formula x = [-b +-sq root (b^2 -4ac)] / 2a a=4 b=8 c =-5 x = [-8 +-sq root (8^2 - 4*4*-5)] / 2*4
Thank you so much
Don't forget for part A the radical is sq root (-16^2 -(4*9*60)) That means you will have a negative square root and so the answers are complex (or imginary)
