Using Quadratic Formula
x = [-b +-sq root (b^2 -4ac)] / 2a
a=4 b=8 c =-5
x = [-8 +-sq root (8^2 - 4*4*-5)] / 2*4

Don't forget for part A
the radical is sq root (-16^2 -(4*9*60))
That means you will have a negative square root and so the answers are complex (or imginary)
