OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Loser66 can you help me again please? i dont mean to be bother.

OpenStudy (loser66):

The same. Tell me what you think

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well the center is (0,-2) a=3 b=1

OpenStudy (loser66):

yup

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is a ellispse right?

OpenStudy (loser66):

yup

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the equation of an ellipse is x2/a2 + y2/b2 = 1 so is it x2/9 + y2/1 = 1?

OpenStudy (loser66):

This is a VERTICAL ellipse, hence the standard formula will have y in the front. \(\dfrac{y^2}{a^2}+\dfrac{x^2}{b^2}=1\)

OpenStudy (loser66):

Got me?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y2/1 +x2/9=1

OpenStudy (loser66):

a is ALWAYS with the main axis (y in this case)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y2/9+x2/1

OpenStudy (loser66):

If it is a HORIZONTAL one, then x will go first and a will go with x. Yes for the last comment

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you! so that the anwser?

OpenStudy (loser66):

yup

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you.
