Maxine spent 15 hours doing her homework last week. This week she spent 18 hours doing homework. She says that she spent 120% more time doing homework this week. Is she correct? Show your work to justify your decision.

At first i said this....

First you do 3/15 x 100. This = 20. Now you have to add 20 and 100, that = 120.
Maxine spent 18 hours doing homework last week. For this part you subtract 18 - 15. The answer will be 3.
Then you divide 2 and 15 = 0.3.
0.2 x 100 = P.
P= percent.
0.2 x 100 = 20.
20 + 100 = 120.
Maxine as correct.

You should think like this:
15 hours + 3 more hours
the 3 more hours is 20% of the original

in other words she worked 20% more than the first week

just say
120% of 15 is 18
and she did not work 18 more hours

20% of 15 is 3, and she did work 3 more hours (than 15)
