Hi does anyone knows how are you supposed to take the lectures? I mean, is there a proposed pace for the course, like day on, day off for lectures or is just like... as fast as you can?

It is self paced.  Some people take more time than others.

Speed can be a wonderful thing, but taking the time to fiddle with the concepts can pay big dividends down the line.

Sure, I don't mean to rush through the course or anything, what I meant was more on the line of being a monitored course, but I guess not. So does that means we don't need to submit the problem sets?

edx.org is starting a new batch next week, so you can take it there, but that takes around 15 hours each week. If you don't want to put that much time, you can always do the class in ocw mit page. If this is your first time programming, maybe you should do another course in another website before doing the one of mit. It is a real challenge, but pretty fun :)

In MIT course it is simply impossible to go on without doing the problem sets. Of course you don't need to completely solve every each one of them but you have to think about them and somehow feel challenged.

College courses usually meet twice a week, plus a weekly recitation.
So if you want to go along with it as it was taught, watch the lectures Mon/Wed, or Tues/Thurs, and watch a recitation some other day. Do each problem set weekly.

There's no point to learning any of this if you're going to ignore the problem sets. Learning how to code is 99% figuring out how to solve problems on your own.

Thanks for all your replies, I guess I wasn't clear enough about what I was saying, and for that I apologize. I wanted to know if after finishing the problem sets is there some repository or e-mail to submit our work; I didn't mean to skip the problem sets, in fact, as you know (I'm pretty sure of that) that's the best part of the course.

On the self paced, there is no submit... HOWEVER, you can post things here for comments and help, so basically a submit for peer review.
