Reduce 25/100

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

both of them belong to the five times table and both numbers are divisible by 5

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

oh wait what the heck I'm doing it the hard way yup sorry both numbers are also divisible by 25

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

so all we need is 25 divided by 25 -------------------- 100 divided by 25 it's similar to solving 25 x 1 =? 25 x 4 =?

imqwerty (imqwerty):

100=25 x 4 nd we have 25/100 we can write it as = 25/(2x25) can we cancel any terms from the numerator and denominator?? @tatiana.woodson

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

I think I gave it out 25 x 1 = 25 25/25 = 1 25 x 4 = 100 100/25 = 4 so the reduced fraction is.......... 25/25 --------- 100/25

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm confused

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

why decimals though @imqwerty ?

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

ok what is 25 x 1 =?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

25

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

ok what is 25 divided by 25 ?

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

how many times can 25 go into 25?

imqwerty (imqwerty):

lol ok lets begin frm the beginning @tatiana.woodson where r u gettin confused

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

yes so that's that new numerator. since 25 is divisible by 25 25 divided by 25 is 1

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

now for the denominator what is 25 x 4 ?

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

we can also add 25 4 times 25+25+25+25 = ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

100

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Simply divide the fraction by the GCF, 25. Then tell me what you get as the answer ^-^

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

and how many times can 25 go into 100?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

yes so that's the reduced denominator , so our simplified and reduced fraction is 1/4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yup! :)
