Can someone think of an appeal to ethos that would persuade a jury to imprison Brutus from Julius Caesar for taking part in the murder of Caesar?
Don't tag the world. We call that spam. What is "ethos" and how might it be used?
Maybe mention god?
Ethos appeals to ethics. Responsible research practices and fair use of appeals contribute to your credibility and appeal to our need to trust that you are a legitimate and ethical individual. Ethical appeals also tap into an audience’s character or sense of right and wrong. I don't understand how use ethos is my problem...
I'm hoping you see the solution as you discuss it. Is murder wrong? Why?
Well ya murder is wrong but ethics are just thing that are assumed to be right and moral. Its not like there is a book that states what's right and wrong is why i'm not sure how to properly explain ethos.
You could also go the other way, although not everyone agrees it is a valid argument, Discredit Brutus. State that he has nor morality or integrity. We do it all the time in politics, these days.
So i would just talk about his lack of remorse for the stabbing Caesar as ethos?
I find that hard to write about though because it's not like the persecutor know he had no remorse since that would be one of Brutus's feelings......
knows**
That is good! You are projecting your own integrity into the argument. Don't do that. Just make the argument.
Standard rule of lawyering, "It doesn't matter what I believe. It matters what I can argue."
Thanks! Could you also help me with another question? Ill post it separately.
