well, the easiest part is multiplying (3)(-7) = -21 the next part is multiplying (a^2)(a^4). when we have the same base (a) we keep the base and add the exponents (a^2)(a^4) = a^(4+2) = ?

So the answer would be =-21a^6?

Question so when there is only 1 exponent next to the base and the other base does not have one, do we make the base that does not a 1 exponent so we can add or No?

when there is no exponent, you can always make the exponent 1
