Does anyone know how to find an equation for the line through P (0,0) perpendicular to L: y=-x+2. Also, how do you graph each pair of lines in a square viewing window and how do you find the distance from P to L

OpenStudy (amilapsn):

If the line is perpendicular to L what will be its slope?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wouldn't the slope be 1 since its a perpendicular line?

OpenStudy (shreehari499):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Right, in general, given a line of slope \(m\), any line perpendicular to the first one will have slope \(-\dfrac{1}{m}\) (\(m\neq0\)).

OpenStudy (amilapsn):

Just to check. Can you tell me what is the slope of the given line \(y=-x+2\)?
