The graph below shows a company's profit f(x), in dollars, depending on the price of erasers x, in dollars, being sold by the company: GRAPH IS DOWN BELOW VVVV Part A: What do the x-intercepts and maximum value of the graph represent? What are the intervals where the function is increasing and decreasing, and what do they represent about the sale and profit? (5 points) Part B: If at one time the profit of the company was at least $120 what domain could possibly produce this profit? (2 points) Part C: What
I already have answer "A" I need help with B & C.
B is asking for the interval where price is at least $120, so between (including) the x-values where the graph is 120.
1, 7? or 1, 4?
looks like [1, 7] to me
Ok, so the answer would be. The domain that would produce this profit is "1, 7" ?
yes
Ok thx! Do you think you could help me out with another?
ok
A Labrador leaps over a hurdle. The function f(t) represents the height of the Labrador above the ground, in inches, at t seconds: f(t) = -16t2 + 26t A foxhound jumps over the same hurdle. The table shows the height of the foxhound above the ground g(t), in inches, at t seconds: https://gyazo.com/03fedf1a360f4176c528b31531da0d83 Part A: Compare and interpret the maximum of f(t) and g(t)? (4 points) Part B: Which function has a greater x-intercept? What do the x-intercepts of the graphs of f(t) and g(t) represent? (4 points) Part C: Determine the y-intercepts of both functions, and explain what this means in the context of the problem. (2 points)
The gyazo is the picture table/whole question
ok. which part do you need help with?
Ok, so with A, it would be 0.8 7.36?
Wait, im confused xD
It looks like for g(t), 7.56 inches is the maximum and occurs at 0.7 seconds You have to graph or use -b/(2a) to find the maximum for f(t)
What do I put in for b and a?
If you don't know how to do it that way, just graph it on desmos and it will spit out the maximum for you. You're going to need the graph for part B and C anyway
Is this right? A. The maximum for g(x) is at time 0.6, and the maximum for f(x) is at (13/16,169/16) 169/6=10.5625 inches at time 0.8125 seconds?
yeah
Wait, Really!
yes. for x-intercepts, you can set f(t) equal to 0 and factor to solve for t. For g(t) the x-intercepts are the distances where g(t) = 0
And is this right for B. f(t) has greater x intercepts, meaning that when the labrador will land later than the fox when it jumps over the hurdle
Ask your teacher dude. I'm here trying to help you solve a problem and you're off googling answers someone else turned in last year -_-
Because im confused, I dont know what goes where. There are so many f(t), g(t), t, f(t) = -16t2 + 26t, etc..... And I just get so confused from what to put in where to solve it.
But if you would like to still help me it would be much appreciated and I will try my best to follow your steps.
