OpenStudy (surryyy):

7m − 5 − 13m = 25

OpenStudy (surryyy):

Solve the equations by combining like terms. Show all the steps.

OpenStudy (rushwr):

Hey what do u think ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Combining like terms by: looking at familiar values, such as: (number)(x) which in this case is 7m and -13m. 7m − 5 − 13m = 25 So, for this question, just do: 7m + (-13m) to simplify it and leave less variables. This gets you 6m So: 6m - 5 = 25 Now, leave the variable x alone, and see what else you can simplify, which is 5 and 25. Look at the signs, and see that this is -5 so, rather than -5 on both sides, cancel 5 by adding five. 6m - 5 = 25 +5 = +5 6m = 30 Now get rid of 6 from m since you want variables alone. 30/6 = 5 there m =5

OpenStudy (rushwr):

I'll give u a hint. Just take all the alike terms to one side.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hope this helps :P

OpenStudy (surryyy):

my answer turned out to be -5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm, double check your signs (+ and -'s)

OpenStudy (rushwr):

@surryyy Correct !

OpenStudy (surryyy):

ok ty!

OpenStudy (rushwr):

@JackleBee U have got the negative signs a little confused. Double check

OpenStudy (rushwr):

7m-13m = 30 right? -6m= 30
