Write an equation for (a) the vertical line and (b) the horizontal line though the point P. P(3,2) I have no idea what to do!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think its x=3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and y=2

OpenStudy (pandaecat):

Yes, it is x=3.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but what if i have negative pi , pi /4

OpenStudy (pandaecat):

This is because a horizontal or vertical is just a straight line, so any point on the line of x=3 would be an answer. So on a question like this, just look at the x and y.

OpenStudy (pandaecat):

IDK about that... open another question and ask someone else, I'd say.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright thank you!

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Are you asking: \("\)what if instead of the point (3,2) I had a point \((\)-\(\pi\), \(^\pi/_4\) \()\), then what would my vertial and horizontal lines (that go through this point) be\("\)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Ok, I will tell you that for any point (\(w\), \(k\)) there is only one vertical and one horizontal line that go through that point: x=\(w\) is your vertical line y=\(k\) is your horizontal line let me draw a(n example of a) picture that corresponds to what I said.,..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alrighty!

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

If you have any questions as far as the conceptialization and understanding of this go, pliz ask

OpenStudy (anonymous):

of course thank you!!
