Referring to the figure, find the sine of angle R. Reduce the answer to the lowest terms. Okay so i have literally no idea how to do this so if someone could just explain it to me

|dw:1440467634541:dw|

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

with respect to angle R, the opposite side is TS |dw:1440467702221:dw|

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

the adjacent side is RT |dw:1440467734346:dw|

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

and the hypotenuse is RS the hypotenuse is always the longest side of a right triangle it is always opposite the right angle |dw:1440467770507:dw|

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

now use SOH CAH TOA the SOH refers to S = sine O = opposite H = hypotenuse basically sine(angle) = opposite/hypotenuse

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

hopefully this sounds familiar from your lesson?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok basically my school gives us a book and expects us to learn how to do things from it but thats not how i learn :/

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

do you see how I set up the opposite, adjacent and hypotenuse in the drawing?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes that makes sense

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

so sin(R) = opposite/hypotenuse = TS/RS = 8/10 = 4/5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yay thats what i got! thank you for helping! here im gonna start a new question cause i need to know how to find something else

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

alright
