Encountering problem with a homework question of mine: What I have is moments in the z = 0 and x = 0. Sum of force in z axis 0=-800N-600N+NB (normal force B) + Az. Forces in y axis 0 = Ay. Finally an equation of moment in (M)y direction =-600(.4)N*m +NB(.8) Not quite sure what I am doing wrong...
Here's the question: Determine the support reactions at the smooth collar A and the normal reactions at the roller support B.
assuming reaction B acts purely in the z direction, for \(B_z\), take moments about x-axis at the smooth collar, there will be both a force in the z direction and a torque about the y axis for the force at A, the forces - 800N, 600N, your answer for \(B_z\) and \(A_z\) ie in z direction - should add to zero for the torque \( T_A \), take moments about the y axis. that picture is very hard to make out
