OpenStudy (anonymous):

@phi You there?

OpenStudy (phi):

for the angle at D, which trig function should we use ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think it should be the sin function? Because x is the adjacent.

OpenStudy (phi):

people use SOH CAH TOA to remember or oscar had a heap of apples sin cos tan

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh okay, well for this triangle, I think we should use sin because the Hypotenuse is 55 degrees and the Opposite is x which and we're also given the degrees for sin when it's being put into a fraction.

OpenStudy (phi):

side x is the adjacent side for angle D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, sorry, now I see. I was looking at it a different way. So then we'd use the cos function.

OpenStudy (phi):

yes, cos. and sides are lengths (and measured in for example, feet, inches, meters, miles, *not* degrees) angles are measured in degrees or radians
