Translation problems please help.. Twenty less than twelve percent of a number minus the sum of twice the number and negative fifteen

OpenStudy (anonymous):

.12x - 2x 20- -15 ?? is this correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jim_thompson5910 ?

OpenStudy (madhu.mukherjee.946):

let the number be x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wouldnt the 20 go next to the 15? since its less than? or do i just solve from there?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answer sheet says its -18.8x - 35 and i figured out how to get the 35 but i cant seem to figure out -18.8 bc all i get is 1.88

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thanks :)

OpenStudy (madhu.mukherjee.946):

is mine not matching with your answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im not sure.

OpenStudy (madhu.mukherjee.946):

@jim_thompson5910

OpenStudy (madhu.mukherjee.946):

hey sorry i've got your answer

OpenStudy (madhu.mukherjee.946):

it will be 12x/100-20-2x-15

OpenStudy (madhu.mukherjee.946):

then you will get 12x-2000-200x-1500/100

OpenStudy (madhu.mukherjee.946):

i'm so sorry ...i did not want to misguide you:(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so you just multiply everything?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its okay :)

OpenStudy (madhu.mukherjee.946):

no

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

when I translated, I got `(0.12x-20)-(2x-15)` which simplifies to `-1.88x -5`

OpenStudy (madhu.mukherjee.946):

you got to take the lcm 100

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm

OpenStudy (madhu.mukherjee.946):

|dw:1441003854864:dw|

OpenStudy (madhu.mukherjee.946):

do you understand?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes in a way

OpenStudy (madhu.mukherjee.946):

if you have confusion then pls ask

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so i divided 188/100 and its 1.88 do i move the decimal?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

other than that i understand it :)

OpenStudy (madhu.mukherjee.946):

no it will be 1.88 and not 18.8:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay then i understand thanks so much! :)

OpenStudy (madhu.mukherjee.946):

i rechecked it many times its correct:)

OpenStudy (madhu.mukherjee.946):

OpenStudy (anonymous):
