Use the vertical line test (VLT) to determine if the following graph is a function. Image attached.
if it passes the VLT, it is a function. if it doesn't, it's not a function. what is the issue?

doesn't matter... could be a piecewise function. for example: \[f \left( x \right)=\left\{ \begin{matrix}x,\,\,\,\,\,\, x \le 3\\ -x, \,\,\,\,\,\, x \ge 3\end{matrix} \right\}\]

So, I need to look at them as two separate pieces? Therefore, since they are still parallel lines, they both pass the VLT, which means it is a function? @pgpilot326
Sorry, by parallel I mean vertical, or lines that can pass the VLT.
