Calculate a chain of 4x4 matrices (don’t multiply them together) that will rotate points about the vector A = [(.5)^1/2, 1.73, (.5)^1/2]. Show your work. Helpful trig evaluations: tan (60 deg) = 1.73; tan (45 deg) = 1.0

I know it's possible, but I don't remember the details. How much do you know ?

This gives an algorithm http://inside.mines.edu/fs_home/gmurray/ArbitraryAxisRotation/ it looks messy

have a look

OpenStudy (phi):

your vector A in spherical coords means phi = 45 and theta= 60 |dw:1441136301303:dw|

OpenStudy (phi):

according to the link, the steps are 1 rotate 60º so the vector is in the xz plane 2 then rotate that by 45 so it points in the z direction 3 now do the rotation you want 4,5 then undo step 2 and then step 1
