@jim_thompson5910
what's the truth value of `P v R`
unfortunately its same as the same as the other problem, just a little different
wow double words, my mistake lol
p is true r is false so `p v r` is ??? look at the table I did for `p v q` on your last post
no numbers in involved, just wants to know whether its true or false, I dont know why I mess these things up, but its the darn true or false statements they switch in the directions
I got all true except one F near the bottom
does that table make sense?
How do you get back to old posts, sorry...
if you closed the question, it should be in the "closed questions" section
or you can look through your old questions by clicking onto your profile
i found it
so would it be true overall?
~q is a false statement so its true, and I'm not sure about r, it seems like true statement
what would the truth value of `p v r` be?
think of the "v" as an "or"
so would it be considered a false statement...
p is true r is false overall `p v r` is true because at least one piece of the compound statement is true
go back to that table I drew
ko
or think of an example the statement "water is wet OR unicorns exist" is overall true because water is indeed wet even though unicorns don't exist. So the person saying this compound statement isn't lying
I see, so even if theres a false statement, but a true statement within, its true.
yeah both need to be false for `p v r` to be false
if you change that OR to AND, then both need to be true for the whole thing to be true. Otherwise, the whole thing is false. So in a way, it's like the flip of OR
I see, thanks again, this stuff man really gets at me, thanks for explaining it, it helps tremendously :)
no problem
