A museum in New York attracted 6,274,289 visitors last year. A museum in Chicago attracted 5,772,857 visitors in the same year. About how many people visited the two museums last year? Round each number to the nearest million to find the answer. A. 11,000,000 B. 11,900,000 C. 12,000,000 D. 12,100,000

For these numbers, the hundreds places won't matter. When you round, you simply go up from anything great than 5. So first, add the two million-placed numbers. You get 11. Now add 772, and 274. That gives you 1046, I could be wrong. Using mental math here. So, we've got 11 million and an extra 1,046, which isn't enough to shift the rounding. Your answer would be 11,000,000. (If anyone wants to double check that'd be okay)
Wait- no it's 12,000,000. I messed myself up there. The reason it's not 12,100,000 is because the question specifically asks for the millions place
@DARTHVADER2900
some of the answers such as 11,900,000 have 3 leading digits (the 119) so it is rounded to the nearest 100thousand I would use numbers to the nearest 10thousand: 6,27 + 5,77 = 12,04 now round to 12,0 so the answer is 12,000,000
