How to convert 4,012 millimeters into kilometers

OpenStudy (welshfella):

scientific notation general form is N * 10^n where N is a number between 1 and 10 ( not including 10) and n is an integer ( not 0)

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

Okay, I like to use the King Henry Died Monday Drinking Chocolate Milk to help with conversions. So: King=Kilometers Henry=hectometers Died=Decameters Monday=meters Drinking=Decimeters chocolate=centimeters Milk=millimeters this is fairly easy to use. you start with millimeters so you move the decimal point to the left to get to kilometers. you'd have to move it 6 places to the left.. do you understand what I mean? if not, I'll explain it in a different way

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes I do

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

So tell me what you'd get and I'll help you convert it into Scientific Notation if that's what you need to do

OpenStudy (welshfella):

lol - i like that one!!

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

\(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @welshfella lol - i like that one!! \(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{End of Quote}}\) are you talking about KHDMDCM?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

yes

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

heheh, thanks c:

I need to convert 4012 millimeters into kilometers and if I move the decimal I get 0.4012

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

you haven't moved it enough.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How many place would I move the decimal

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

right now, you have 0.4012 Decameters... move it 2 more places to the left to get Kilometers

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

here, I'll show you.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So it would be 40.12

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

|dw:1441561266410:dw| does that make sense?
