please help!:// What is the value of x in the solution to the following system of equations? x − y = −3 x + 3y = 5

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

what you can do is: 1. Multiply the first equation of the system, times -1. 2. Add the equations to each other. 3. Divide both sides by 4.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

divide both sides by four?

@lhernandezz12 After you do the first two steps it should be pretty obvious. What do have before dividing by four?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got 3y=8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh i see what i did wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh that was really easy i just forgot how to start it off

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks! @unimatix @SolomonZelman
