REPOST (because the other one got too cluttered) Find y if the point (15, y) is on the terminal side of θ and\[\cos\theta=\frac{15}{17}\](Enter your answers as a comma-separated list.) My result was \[\pm8\]but I'm told that it's the wrong answer. ッ what I did: \[y=\sqrt{17^{2}-15^{2}}=\sqrt{289-225}=\sqrt{64}=\pm8\]\[x=15,y=8,r=17\]\[\sin\theta=\frac{8}{17},\cos\theta=\frac{15}{17},\csc\theta=\frac{17}{8},\sec\theta=\frac{17}{15}\]I would have kept going but I'm not sure if I'm going in the right direction.

Please help, anyone? @DanJS @dan815 @ganeshie8 @Luigi0210

OpenStudy (kittiwitti1):

@undeadknight26 @radar @freckles @Zale101 I don't want to mass-tag but I really need help on this. e_e

OpenStudy (kittiwitti1):

Did I mess up anywhere?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

\(\pm 8\) looks good to me

OpenStudy (kittiwitti1):

Indeed but I got the "wrong answer" according to the website. I am confused. http://prntscr.com/8di5he @ganeshie8 ?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

try entering -8,8 without spaces between them

OpenStudy (kittiwitti1):

I've done that on other problems with the same result as the original attempt... I honestly don't think it's a typo issue.

OpenStudy (kittiwitti1):

But if you think there is no other way that it is wrong I will try it. ^^; I wanted to try this but I wasn't sure if I'd done anything wrong; hence wasting an answer submission would not be ideal.

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

please take other opinions too

OpenStudy (kittiwitti1):

I trust your opinion though >_> yours and batman's. but he's offline

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

to me -8,8 looks is the correct answer i don't see how it can possibly go wrong..

OpenStudy (kittiwitti1):

Okay I'll submit it then :]

OpenStudy (jchick):

Yes I got the same thing

OpenStudy (kittiwitti1):

-stares blankly- OMFG. IT WAS THE REASON ALL ALONG

OpenStudy (kittiwitti1):

-slams face into desk- WHY IS THIS WEBSITE SO FREAKING STUPID.

OpenStudy (kittiwitti1):

But thanks for your time and help @ganeshie8 :)

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

dumb graders, congrats! :)

OpenStudy (kittiwitti1):
