Statistics questions! 1) A data set on money spent on lottery tickets during the past year by 200 households has a lowest value of $1 and a highest value of $1167. Suppose we want to group these data into six classes of equal widths. a. Assuming that we take the lower limit of the first class as $1 and the width of each class equal to $200, write the class limits for all six classes. b. What are the class boundaries and class midpoints? Can someone show a step by step process on how to go about answering these problems?? I am getting stuck. Please and thank you.
what is your definition of a class?
first step to me is to write down the classes, starting at 1 and partitioning them (moving by) 200 1 200 400 600 etc ... these form the left side boundaries of each class, fill in the right sides ... usually 1 less then the value of the NEXT class 1 - 199 200 - 399 400 - 599 600 - 799 etc ... now that the classes are bounded left and right, what is the middle value of each class? the average of the endpoints ...
