HELP PLEASE!An airline serves four cities, Abbott, Bache, Cabot, and Dacoma. These are labeled located at points A, B, C and D respectively. Currently, the solid lines represent the airlines present routes. Point F represents the new airport which is being built. This will add four new airline routes, noted by the dotted lines. Currently, travelers who wish to travel from Abbott to Cabot have to first travel to Bache. After, the new airport, F, is built, how many miles will a passenger save traveling from Abbot to the new airport to Cabot? Round your answer to the nearest tenth.
i beleive this is trig and you use cosin for this
its been awhile since ive done this so i rly cant help other than you use cosine or sine
wait, i see the solution now...its a little hard to explain tho
Can you try because I don't understand how to solve it?
just look at the triangle part
ok
since its a right angle triangle, and the angle given is 45, the other angle is 45 and the other leg is 150
find the hypotenuse
a^2+b^2=c^2 150^2+150^2=c^2
45000=c^2 c=212.132034356
to find the answer, do 212.132034356-150
do you understand?
or do i need to clarify a few things?
I understand I just got confused. Do you know of a website that can help me understand this more?
Can you help me on another question?
no not rly, people have suggested purplemath.com and sure
With the same picture.Currently, travelers who want to travel from Bache to Dacoma have to travel through Cabot. How many miles will the new airport save travelers flying from Bache to Dacoma?
How will i figure this one out? I have many question similar but I feel like if you help me understand these two it'll be easier for me.
great, sines, cosines, and tangents just came out of this problem
now its time to do some trig
okay & how would I do that? Its difficult for me since I've been out of school for a while-.-
do you have a calculator?(scientific one pref)
no but I can find one online
then this will be a bit harder for you since i have one in my hand rn
its fine can you just try and explain it to me
we're using sine btw and its easier to show than explain on this and try kahnacademy.com
Can you just draw it out like other people do?
im trying to find the right vid on kahnacademy to show you since thats the easiest way rn
okay Thank you :)
https://www.khanacademy.org/math/trigonometry/less-basic-trigonometry/angle-addition-formulas-trig/v/sin-angle-addition start here first, the guy will explain everything and if you want a list of the vids he does then they are right here: https://www.khanacademy.org/math/trigonometry/less-basic-trigonometry
well the list of vids for trig
Thanks for your help.:)
