SCIENTIFIC NOTATION PLEASE HELP! What is 48,100,000,000,000 in scientific notation? ? x 10 ?

OpenStudy (loganh):

okay

OpenStudy (loganh):

in scientific notation, the first number can be between 1 and 10

OpenStudy (bishoppatton):

4.81 X 10^ 13

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You need to move the decimal till it's between the first and second numbers. Count the number of spaces you have moved it and note it as (whatever the mumber is) x 10^n (n being the number of places you moved the decimal. In this case, you will move your decimal 13 places. So your answer would be 4.81 x 10^13. :)

OpenStudy (loganh):

wow, it is about helping bishop, not complete answer giving

OpenStudy (loganh):

So if you see, a way would be 4.81

OpenStudy (gabbyalicorn):

But, @RainbowBrony555 wheres the decimal? I only see commas...

OpenStudy (gabbyalicorn):

Oh, do you mean 10.?

OpenStudy (loganh):

so, if you move count from the decimal in 4.81 to the end of the last 0, you get 13

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:)

OpenStudy (gabbyalicorn):
