One easy way to go about this is to just graph it out. If it's a line, it's linear. If it's curved like a parabola for example, it's nonlinear.

Orr, we could just do it based on the table alone. So at x=0, y=-2. The next set of points is x=1,y=1. That means that the x went up one, while the y went up 3. If this difference between the x's and the y's continues (For every one the x goes up, the y goes up by 3), it is linear.
