56 × 31 is the same as (50+6) x (30+1) what you do is you use a trick in math called foil(First outer inner last) so foil (50+6) x (30+1) would be 50*30(first) 50*1(outer) 6*30(inner) 6*1(last) so solve (50*30), (50*1), (6*30) and (6*1)
50x30=1500 50x1=50 6x30=180 6x1=6
