This is a bad question. Subtracting is not an operation

Really we are adding the additive inverse of a number, so now we are adding the additive inverse of an additive inverse.

\(a-(-b)=a+(-(-b))\). The one on the left is just an abuse in notation.

I should be very clear and say that subtraction is not an operation on the real numbers as a field because subtraction is not associative. But that was boring. . .
