Which sentence is punctuated correctly? The meeting was only supposed to be an hour, however; it ran for nearly three hours. The meeting was only supposed to be an hour however, it ran for nearly three hours. The meeting was only supposed to be an hour: however, it ran for nearly three hours. The meeting was only supposed to be an hour; however, it ran for nearly three hours.
Which one do you think it is?
the second one
I'm thinking the last one. The reason is that "however" is a subordinating conjunction. When it comes to this word in particular at least, I've only seen it in three places: the beginning of a sentence(followed by a comma), between two commas, and after a semicolon(also followed by a comma)
In these choices, D is the only option that holds one of those scenarios
ohhhh ok that makes more sense
