OpenStudy (anonymous):

decimals are for calculators http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=-.41-8.91

OpenStudy (anonymous):

o_O i got 8.5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope

OpenStudy (jacobciezki):

I know it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first off both numbers are negative, so the answer must be negative too

OpenStudy (jacobciezki):

Yep

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but really this is a calculator exercise

OpenStudy (anonymous):

mhm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

click on the link and you will see the answer

OpenStudy (jacobciezki):

Yep you see I know it

OpenStudy (jacobciezki):

I love ❤ math

OpenStudy (anonymous):

<3 XD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\huge \spadesuit\]

OpenStudy (jacobciezki):

Lol any more I thought you had to go to bed

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait i'm confused

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok lets do it without the calculator

OpenStudy (jacobciezki):

You said you had to go to bed wait 10 minutes ago

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first lets compute \[-12-15\] what do you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or more to the point, how do you get the answer to \(-12-15\)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

mhm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh i see we have a problem here

OpenStudy (anonymous):

to compute \[-12-15\] you would add \(12+15\) and then stick a minus sign in front of it so \[-12-15=-(12+15)=-27\]

OpenStudy (jacobciezki):

No its 27

OpenStudy (jacobciezki):

No your right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like if you spend $12 and then spend another $15 you have spent a total of $27

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but i dont have 27

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no you have a completely different problem

OpenStudy (jacobciezki):

No this was a sample

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you want to compute \[– 0.41 – 8.91\] how do you do it? add \(0.41+8.91\) then put a minus sign in front of it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay 9.32

OpenStudy (anonymous):

soo answer is \(-9.32\)

OpenStudy (jacobciezki):

That is what I always do

OpenStudy (anonymous):

k

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks

OpenStudy (jacobciezki):
