OpenStudy (clara1223):

Solve the inequality for x given that ((x-5)^2)(28-4x)>0 a) (-inf,-5)U(7,inf) b) (-5,0)U(0,7) c) (-inf,5)U(5,7) d) (-5,0)U(5,inf) e) (-inf,5)U(5,inf)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

pretty much ignore the \((x-5)^2\) term because it is always positive unless \(x=5\) in which case it is zero i.e. solve \(28-4x>0\) in two steps

OpenStudy (clara1223):

I solved for x and got x<7, now what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

when in doubt, Charlie out

OpenStudy (anonymous):

really it is \(x<7\) and \(x\neq 5\) C gives that in interval notation

OpenStudy (clara1223):

oh, I see, thank you!
