Its (A), virus must cause some harm to the cost in order to have a higher rate of transmission. But, if the rate of transmission is low it certainly will not cause much damage

HIV is a deadly disease i.e the host is ultimately killed. In order to reproduce the virus must be transmitted to a new host. Now the condition in question says that the transmission is made extremely difficult.

In that case the virus will decrease its virulence (according to trade off hypothesis) so that it could keep the host alive because ultimately if the host dies and virus is not able to transmit the virus will also die.
