Can anyone help me please?! how would you change this sentence to a true statement:some irrational numbers are also rational numbers a) All irrational numbers are also rational numbers b) half of the irrational numbers are also rational numbers c) one-third of he irrational numbers are also rational numbers d) irrational numbers can not be classified as rational numbers***

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

I'm guessing by the `***` you put next to d, that's the answer choice you picked?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes I think that d is the answer

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

why do you think D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because irrational numbers cannot be written as a ratio or fraction and rational numbers can ?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

correct, by the very definition of what "irrational" means in terms of math the "ir" part means "not" `irrational = ir+rational = not+rational`

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

in other words, it's the complete opposite of a rational number

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks!!! @jim_thompson5910

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

no problem
