Find the slope and the y-intercept of the line.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[y=-1/5x+7\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Y=mx+b m is the slope b is the intercept when x=0

OpenStudy (owlcoffee):

Any line that can be written in the form \(y=mx + c\) leaves in evidence two important compositions of the line: - "m" which is the slope of the line. - "c" being the y-interception of the line. This can be easily proven by putting a generic point \(u(0,y)\) on y- axis, on the line obtaining: \[y=(0)+c\]\[y=c\] Therefore, "c" represents the "y-interception".

as owlcoffee is saying \[\Large y = \color{red}{m}x+\color{blue}{b}\] \[\Large y = \color{red}{\text{(slope)}}x+\color{blue}{\text{(y-intercept)}}\]
