OpenStudy (kj4uts):

Constant Differences and Average Rate of Change

OpenStudy (kj4uts):

OpenStudy (kj4uts):

This is the work I did: Difference in X 3-1=2 4-3=1 7-4=3 8-7=1 Difference in H(t) 5.5-0.5=5 8-5.5=2.5 15.5-8=7.5 18-15.5=2.5 I am just not sure how to interpret the data to know what is true.

OpenStudy (triciaal):

look at each subsection for example A the x-values are evenly spaced find the difference between the values check is it the same difference between the x-values just like you did above the difference is not the same so for A not true

OpenStudy (kj4uts):

It looks like b. f(x) does not have a constant difference so that doesn't look true either.

OpenStudy (kj4uts):

C. the average rate of change is not constant so I don't think that one is true either.

OpenStudy (kj4uts):

For D. there is not a average rate of change of 2.75 but that only leaves me with E. which I don't understand.

OpenStudy (triciaal):

check again c is true 2.5

OpenStudy (triciaal):

I have G as the final answer.

OpenStudy (kj4uts):

Im a little confused about that I do see that its true?

OpenStudy (triciaal):

E is asking is y = m x + b

OpenStudy (triciaal):

Is F(x) a linear function ? do you get a straight line with a constant slope if you plot the points? or if you use the equation

OpenStudy (kj4uts):

With a constant slope it would be going up as a straight line.
