Determine the equation of the line that is parallel to the y-axis and passes through (-0.399...,2.78).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm not sure where to begin with this. Will I be using the y=mx+b formula?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If so, how do I find the slope?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh. How do I get x2 and y2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Would it be the same points repeating?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Or the opposite?

OpenStudy (madhu.mukherjee.946):

wait.i'm telling you

OpenStudy (madhu.mukherjee.946):

A line parallel to the y-axis is a vertical line. Vertical lines have the characteristic that the x-coordinates of all of the points that comprise the line are equal.

OpenStudy (madhu.mukherjee.946):

in case of a line parallel to y axis the equation of the line becomes-x=-0.399

OpenStudy (madhu.mukherjee.946):

@Wondergiirl you understand?????????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes! That made so much sense. Thank you for being clear!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I appreciate the help!

OpenStudy (madhu.mukherjee.946):

welcome:)
